Job creation: What you need to know about N-power.

N-Power is an employment scheme set up by the federal government to help graduates secure the proper training and employment necessary to help the nation's labour force. The programme has helped the government to reduce unemployment rate in the country.
The following are the goals the federal government tends to achieve by creating N-power:

1. To reduce unemployment rate in the country.

2. To bring about a system that would facilitate transferability and employability, entrepreneurial and technical skills.

3. To profer solutions to poor public services and government diversification policy.

N-power is divided into two categories as follows:
  • Phase one is for young graduates (OND, NCE, HND, BSC inclusive), while 
  • Phase two is for young undergraduates.
Note: N-Power is not an employment, so your would only be paid monthly allowance of about N30,000 for two years, and will terminate once your tenure is over. Since it is not an employment, engaged youths would be disengaged after 2 years, and another set of graduates would be taken.

N-power area of interest is being classified as shown below: (Every N-power candidate is to select an area he/she is interested on)

1. N-power Teach: those under this programme would serve as assistance teachers in primary and secondary schools in remote areas where they are being posted to.

2. N-Power Health: Those under this group would be trained by professionals to serve as public health assistance. They would also be trained to provide basic diagnostics service to people in areas where they would be posted to serve.

3. N-power Agro: Those under this programme would serve as intermediaries between researchers and farmers to help provide with the farmers the best farming practice which help Nigeria to self sufficient in food.

4. N-power community education: members under this would be deployed to communities to serve as adult educators and civil educators.

5. N-power Tech: This would train Nigerian youths in ICT industry by training them to become hardware and software technicians. This programme will run for 4 weeks, and then participants would be linked with placement opportunities and also shown how to start their career in ICT.
N-POWER APPLICATION QUALIFICATION
N-Power programme is not for every body.
Below are the criteria for selection into the programme.

1. It is for unemployed youths between the age bracket 18 and 35 years.

2. It is for persons that pass the n-power assessment test and other relevant test (the tests are online based).

3. It is for meant for those that have the ability to prove that they can fit into the programme.

4. It is for those that are computer literate.

5. Finally, it meant for those that have genuine interest in the chosen field.
