9 NYSC Corpers Drown In Mayo Salbe River, Taraba State

The unfortunate incident that reportly squeezed out lives from Nine members of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) took place last Saturday in Goshaka Local Govt Taraba State.
It was reported that some corps members organised a picnic and invited some of their colleagues to witness the event which was fixed at Mayo Salbe village river, close to Gashaka main town. But unfortunately, 9 corps members were said to be drowned in the river.

A corps member, Fidelis Ogbe who participated in the picnic narrated how his nine colleagues were drowned.
According to Fidelis Ogbe, he was with some other corps members on the top of a rock close to the river when a strong storm came with powerful waves and sweft nine of his colleagues at the vicinity into the river.
So far, 7 dead bodies have been recovered.

The NYSC Coordinator in Taraba, Florence Yaakugh, has confirmed the incident.
Yaakugh said that the seven bodies have been recovered dead while the search for remaining two was still ongoing by the locals in collaboration with security agencies.
Florence, however described the incident as the most regrettable and unfortunate, Yaakugh said that the NYSC would soon made the identity of all the Corps members involed known.
"We have information indicating that
about nine of our Corps members were drowned in Gashaka on Saturday. 
"So far, seven bodies have been recovered and we are working with other relevant persons to recover the rest and to identify the persons. 
"This is a very sad development and the entire NYSC family in Taraba state is already thrown into deep mourning."
