Niger Camp Is The Worst, NYSC Threatens To Shut It Down

The management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has threatened to shut down its orientation camp located in Paiko, Paikoro local government area of Niger state due to infrastructural decay and shortages.

The NYSC Director General, Brigadier-General, Suleiman Kazaure, dropped the threat while fielding questions from newsmen in Niger after inspecting the camp on Thursday.

He described the orientation camp as the worst in Nigeria, adding that repeated appeal to the state government to carryout facilities upgrade at the temporary orientation camp site has not yielded any result.

Kazaure said,
"I have been to all the orientation camps in Nigeria but this is the worst in the Federation and the facilities are grossly inadequate.
"The hostels, toilets and everything are inadequate and dilapidated".

The director general pointed out that it is the constitutional responsibility of every state government to provide a decent orientation camp for Corp Members posted to such state, adding that Niger fell short of meeting this mandate.
